2. What happens if I don’t want to press charges?
You are not obligated to press charges after the forensic exam. The evidence will be stored for up to a year, and you can decide whether or not you want to report the incident to the authorities or pursue legal action.

3. How do I find a SANE nurse near me?
You can use the SANE nurse locator available on the app to find the nearest facilities offering forensic exams. Alternatively, you can call your local hospital or victim advocacy organization for more information.

4. What if I’ve already bathed or changed clothes?
The exam can still be performed even if you have already bathed, changed clothes, or used the bathroom. The nurse will still be able to collect other forms of evidence and provide necessary medical care.

5. Will anyone judge me during the exam?
No, SANE nurses are trained to provide compassionate, non-judgmental care. They will ensure you feel safe, respected, and empowered throughout the exam process.
